Frequently Asked Questions

Is this fellowship theoretical or practical?

The fellowship is entirely applied and delivery-focused. Fellows work on supervised data and AI projects linked to UK-based organisations, producing portfolio-ready outputs aligned with industry standards. This is real project experience, not simulated coursework.

No. Applicants are not required to be experts. However, they must demonstrate genuine interest in applied data science and AI, a willingness to learn within structured supervision, and the ability to commit for the full duration of the fellowship.

Fellows work on applied, business-driven data science and AI projects, not toy datasets or purely academic exercises. These projects are structured to reflect:

  • Real business constraints
  • Professional workflows and documentation standards
  • Clear deliverables and stakeholder communication

All projects are designed to ensure you graduate with portfolio-ready outputs that demonstrate not just technical ability, but your capacity to solve real decision-making problems.

The fellowship uses industry-aligned tools including Python, Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, Excel, Git, GitHub, Jupyter Notebooks, and structured project management workflows. All delivery mirrors professional environments.

Each cohort is limited  10 participants to ensure personalised mentoring, close supervision, and high-quality project delivery. Applications close once the cohort is full.

Yes — that is a core part of the fellowship.

All fellows are onboarded into the TATTEL Volunteer Programme, where projects are aligned with UK-based organisations. These are structured, supervised unpaid volunteer placements designed to give you exposure to:

  • Real business problems and data scenarios
  • UK professional delivery standards
  • Collaborative workflows (Git, documentation, structured reviews)

These placements are focused on experience-building and professional development, not employment.

Upon successful completion, you will have demonstrable project experience that you can confidently include on your CV and discuss in interviews.

  • The aim is not just training — it is credible, UK-relevant experience.
  • Professional-style reporting and stakeholder communication
